Black Hall Cottage

"A beautiful cottage with perfect views, couldn't have asked for a better spot for our holiday" - visitor comment, Sept 2011

Black Hall Cottage, a very comfortable holiday cottage in a lovely position overlooking Amroth beach, has fabulous views over Saundersfoot Bay towards Tenby and Caldey Island. Annual inspection by ‘Visit Wales’ confirms the high standard of accommodation in this seaside cottage. In Amroth there are shops, cafes and pubs in walking distance. Only ten minutes drive away is Pembrokeshire's premier resort of Tenby with its numerous cafe bars and restaurants. Evening views from your bedroom window are quite magical, with the lights of Tenby over the water. Low light pollution means a brilliant view of the stars, with the Milky Way clearly visible on a cloudless night.

The county of Pembrokeshire has a unique character in Wales and a rich history, its first visitors having come as early as the Iron Age!. You will find a warm welcome at the many and varied visitor attractions, bars and restaurants around the county. Enjoy the unspoilt countryside by visiting Colby Woodland Garden on your doorstep, taking a walk along the coast or visiting the offshore islands. The islands off the south west coast are fantastic, with many opportunities between April and October to visit Ramsey Island, circle Grassholme and the Bishops and Clerks, keeping a sharp lookout for dolphins. Take a trip to Skomer for its unique bird population with thousands of puffins and the shy Manx Shearwaters nesting in spring-time, with an evening expedition being possibly the best time to spot them. In summer the islands are a mass of wild flowers and autumn is the time to observe the large population of Atlantic Grey Seals.

The perfect sand, crystal water and brilliantly clean and clear air of the beaches make them a wonderful place to play and relax. Recently they have proved very attractive to the film industry, with several scenes being shot at Freshwater West, the latest being Harry Potter and Robin Hood. Richard II was filmed at Carew Castle, near Pembroke. Whitesands beach, near the city of St Davids, and Marloes beach have been used in the recent filming of Snow White and the Huntsman.

All year round Pembrokeshire has a lot to offer. As well as beaches, cliffs and castles there are other family attractions such as Manor House Wildlife Park, Heatherton Country Sports Park and Folly Farm which are open all year. Blue Lagoon Water Park, Adventure Centre and Spa welcomes day visitors. For Christmas and New Year Tenby and Saundersfoot are alive. The Boxing Day swim at Tenby promises to have even more entrants this year, inspired by the success of the first Ironman Wales triathlon event held in September 2011. Raising thousands of pounds for charity, the Boxing Day swim is followed by the Saundersfoot plunge on New Year's Day, with a smaller event being held near to the cottage by the Amroth Arms, beginning and ending at the pub with hot pork rolls and much merriment around the hot stove in the bar.
